My journey as a small business owner has been shaped by my past experiences and the desire to make a positive impact on my community. In my earlier years, I worked as a local radio and television personality, using my voice to connect with people and share stories. However, in the 90s, I faced personal challenges after extensively covering the Oklahoma City bombing as a local news reporter. The emotional toll led to a personal meltdown and battles with drug and alcohol addiction, ultimately resulting in my incarceration. The years that followed were filled with rehabilitation within the criminal justice system.

Small Business Owner
Manager, Metro Home Exchange
Upon reentering society, I faced the harsh reality of limited job opportunities and the scarcity of housing options for individuals with a criminal history. Feeling the weight of these challenges, I realized the need to take matters into my own hands.
Leveraging an old banking relationship, I managed to convince a lender to let me purchase a property. This led to the creation of a sober living environment to support state drug court participants who were in need of stable housing and support systems.
Becoming a small business owner was not just about financial gains for me. It was about transforming my own life while helping others do the same.
Through my journey, I have learned the power of resilience, compassion, and the importance of second chances. Today, as the sole member/manager of Metro Home Exchange, my focus remains steadfast on making a positive impact and fostering change in the lives of those who need it the most.
In summary, my origin story as a small business owner is deeply rooted in personal transformation, the drive to give back, and the unwavering belief in the power of community support.
